We’re wrecking this 1986 Kawasaki KLR250 at Derrimut. It’s an air-cooled four-stroke trail and dual-sport single with electric start and a DOHC top end – more sophisticated than the KL250 it replaced, and built to handle both dirt roads and a reasonable stretch of highway in between them on the way home.

Parts off this KLR250

  • Engine cases, cylinder head, barrel and piston
  • Carburettor, airbox and exhaust system
  • Starter motor, gearbox internals and clutch
  • Forks, triple clamps and both wheels
  • Swingarm, rear shock and linkage
  • Front and rear brake calipers, discs and master cylinders
  • Fuel tank, seat, subframe and mudguards
  • Stator, CDI, wiring loom and headlight assembly

The KLR250 ran with only detail changes across a long production life, so engine and cycle parts off this 1986 example commonly interchange with other KLR250 model years either side of it. That’s useful whether you’re chasing one bolt-on part or rebuilding the whole top end on a bike dealers no longer stock parts for, and we’re wrecking a second KLR250 alongside this one too, giving twice the chance of a straight-fit match for whatever you’re after.

Everything is a used take-off from this actual bike, checked over before it’s sent out – never new, never boxed as genuine. We freight Australia-wide from Derrimut. Browse the Kawasaki parts category, or use the parts finder for a specific item. If you’ve got an old KLR to sell, see sell your bike. We’re happy to confirm fitment on a specific item before you order, particularly electrical parts. Wiring and ignition parts especially can look similar across years but wire up differently.
