If one Suzuki model tells you what this brand means to Australian riders, it’s the DRZ400. Two decades after it launched, the DRZ400E, S and SM are still ridden hard on trails, farms and supermoto tracks, and demand for used parts off them hasn’t slowed. It’s a big enough part of what we sell that it shapes how we stock the whole Suzuki range.
Alongside the DRZ, our floor at Derrimut regularly carries RM and RMZ motocrossers, RMX enduro two-strokes, DR dual-sport models and GSX road bikes. Every part is catalogued against model and year before it’s listed in the shop, so a DRZ400 buyer isn’t guessing which year’s bodywork actually fits.
DRZ and DR dual-sport bikes get stripped for plastics, subframes, wheels, engines and electrics — parts that see constant demand from owners keeping an older bike going well past when Suzuki stopped actively supporting it with new stock. RM, RMZ and RMX motocross and enduro bikes come apart for suspension components, engines, swingarms and radiators.
GSX road bikes are stripped for fairings, wiring looms, wheels and engines. Every part is checked against model and year before it’s listed in the Suzuki category, since even a model as long-running as the DRZ400 had running changes worth knowing about before you buy.
Because the DRZ400 stayed in production largely unchanged for so long, parts demand for it has stayed high for just as long, and dealer stock for an ageing model doesn’t keep pace with that demand forever. A used part off a donor DRZ is often more available, and far cheaper, than trying to source new from a dealer for a bike this old, especially for bodywork and electrics that were never big sellers new.
Suzuki kept several model lines in production with minimal changes for years at a time, which means parts from a few years either side of your bike’s year are frequently worth checking rather than assuming only an exact year match will do. We log this against model and year rather than guessing from a chart.
RM, RMZ and RMX models get raced and ridden hard, which means a steady flow of used suspension linkages, plastics and drivetrain components from bikes maintained by owners who needed them to keep working, not left to rot in a paddock for years before we get to them.
A new fairing kit, subframe or plastics set from a dealer can be worth more than an older GSX or RM is worth outright. A checked used part is a fraction of that price, which is usually the difference between a bike getting back on the road and getting parked in a shed indefinitely.
A Suzuki that’s written off or too tired to be worth fixing still has usable components in it. Pulling and reselling engines, wheels and bodywork keeps working parts out of landfill and avoids the cost of manufacturing new ones from raw materials.
The DRZ400’s dual identity as both a trail bike and a supermoto platform means parts wear differently depending on how a particular bike was set up and ridden, which is exactly the kind of detail worth asking us about before you buy.
Because the DRZ400 alone accounts for such a large share of what our Suzuki buyers ask for, it’s usually the first thing we check stock on when someone calls, before we even ask what else they’re after. Search the shop for what’s currently listed, or use the parts finder for anything not yet online — new Suzukis are stripped every week and DRZ parts in particular don’t sit around for long once they’re catalogued and photographed. If you’re chasing something from an older RM or RMX, it’s worth asking directly rather than assuming it’s not in stock, since not every part makes it into the online catalogue straight away.
Everything we sell comes off a real donor bike stripped at our own site — we don’t broker parts sourced elsewhere. Can’t see what you need in the shop? Get in touch through contact us and we’ll check it against what’s coming apart next.
Confirm your model, year and variant — for the DRZ400 specifically, whether it’s an E, S or SM matters for bodywork, wheels and some electrics, even though the engine platform is closely related across all three. Don’t assume a part is a universal fit just because it’s badged DRZ400; the differences between variants are exactly where fitment problems come from.
For plastics, ask about UV fading and stress cracks around mounting points, which is where off-road bodywork fails first, particularly on bikes that have spent years parked outside. For an engine, ask what it was checked for when pulled — compression, obvious internal wear, whether it ran under its own power before removal. For wiring, ask whether the loom has been tested end to end rather than just inspected visually, since corrosion inside a connector isn’t always visible from the outside even on a loom that looks clean. For suspension components off a motocross or enduro bike, ask how the donor bike was used — a bike raced hard wears differently to one ridden gently on weekends.
If you’re not sure a part suits your exact variant or year, send us the details through the parts finder before ordering. It costs nothing to check and avoids a return shipment if the fitment doesn’t line up the way you expected it to, which happens more often than you’d think with a model as long-running as the DRZ400.
Before ordering, know your Suzuki’s exact model, year and variant — especially for the DRZ400, where E, S and SM differ in ways that matter for fitment. Decide whether you’re chasing plastics, an electrical part or something mechanical, since the checks differ for each. Photos of the damaged part speed up confirming a match.
Because DRZ400 demand is constant, it pays to check the Suzuki category regularly rather than waiting for a single enquiry to turn up what you need.
Every Suzuki part ships from 145–147 Australis Drive, Derrimut VIC 3026, by road freight. Small components and plastics go out as parcels; engines, wheels and swingarms are palletised for the trip. Given how often DRZ400 parts move, we’re used to packing and dispatching them quickly rather than letting orders sit around waiting to be boxed.
Local buyers can collect in person during opening hours, Monday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm. Everyone else, wherever they are in the country, gets the same part in the same condition it left Derrimut in. Call 0408 795 705 or use contact us to confirm freight before ordering.
Many engine and internal components are closely shared, but bodywork, wheels and some electrics differ between the E, S and SM variants. Tell us which variant and year you have and we’ll confirm exactly what interchanges before you order.
The DRZ400 has stayed popular with trail and supermoto riders for two decades, and demand for used parts has stayed just as consistent. We prioritise checking and listing DRZ400 stock quickly because it moves faster than almost anything else we sell.
No. Every part we sell is a used component recovered from a dismantled Suzuki. We are not an authorised Suzuki dealer and don’t sell new genuine OEM parts — everything is inspected before it’s listed for sale.
It depends on the part’s size and your location — a small parcel costs less than a palletised engine or wheel. Send your postcode and the part you need through contact us and we’ll quote it before you order.
Parts are checked and tested before sale where possible — engines for compression, plastics for cracks, looms for continuity. Ask about specific warranty terms for the part you’re buying, and see our FAQ page for general terms.
Yes. We buy non-running, written-off and unwanted Suzukis across dual-sport, motocross, enduro and road categories. Send details and photos through sell your bike and we’ll price it on model, condition and what’s sellable off it.
We buy Suzuki bikes for wrecking in any condition — a tired DRZ400, a crashed RM or RMZ, a non-running GSX, or anything not worth the cost of repair. Given how consistently DRZ400 parts move, a well-used one is one of the more valuable donor bikes we can take off your hands.
Send details and photos through sell your bike or call 0408 795 705. We’ll price it on model, year, condition and what’s realistically sellable off it, then organise pickup. See cash for bikes for how pricing works.
