This 1999 Kawasaki KX200 is being pulled apart at Derrimut. It sat in a niche spot in Kawasaki’s two-stroke motocross range, between the 125 and 250 classes – liquid-cooled, disc brakes and upside-down forks like its stablemates, but with its own cylinder and gearing rather than simply a bored-out 125 engine.

Because the KX200 was never as common as the 125 or 250, engine-specific parts like the barrel and reed valve assembly can be harder to track down than for its more popular stablemates, which makes a running donor especially useful. Cycle parts and bodywork off this bike are a closer match to the KX250 of the same era than the smaller KX125 is, which is useful to know before you go hunting elsewhere.
