This 1983 Yamaha IT490 is being dismantled at Derrimut. It’s a big-bore two-stroke enduro from the era when Yamaha’s IT range led the way in off-road technology, running Yamaha’s Monocross rear suspension and a reed-valve engine tuned for grunt over outright revs – built for desert and cross-country riding rather than tight singletrack.

Parts off this IT490

  • Cylinder barrel, head, piston and reed valve assembly
  • Carburettor and airbox
  • Expansion chamber and silencer
  • Kickstart mechanism, gearbox internals and clutch
  • Forks, monoshock linkage and rear shock
  • Wheels, hubs and spokes
  • Front and rear brake assemblies
  • Plastics, fuel tank, seat and lighting coil components

Big-bore two-stroke enduros from the early 80s are a genuine rarity now, and dealer parts support for a model like the IT490 disappeared decades ago. This donor is one of the few realistic sources left for restorers keeping an early Monocross-era Yamaha enduro running, or vintage off-road racers chasing a period-correct part rather than a modern substitute that won’t look right.

Everything is a used take-off from this actual bike, checked over before it’s sent out – never new, never boxed as genuine. We freight Australia-wide from Derrimut. Browse the Yamaha parts category for what else is listed, or check the parts finder if you know the exact part you need. Got an old IT to sell? See sell your bike. Ask about a specific item even if it’s not listed yet – we’re still working through this bike and adding parts as we go. Vintage enduro riders and restorers make up most of the interest we see in a big-bore two-stroke this age.
