Category: Brand:

This 1980 Yamaha XT250 is being pulled apart at Derrimut. It’s an air-cooled four-stroke trail single, road-registered with lights, indicators and a speedo rather than built for off-road use only – a genuine dual-purpose bike from the era when Yamaha’s XT range popularised the format in Australia.

Parts off this XT250

  • Engine cases, cylinder head, barrel and piston
  • Carburettor, airbox and exhaust system
  • Kickstart mechanism, gearbox internals and clutch
  • Forks, triple clamps and both wheels
  • Swingarm, rear shock and linkage
  • Front and rear brake assemblies
  • Fuel tank, seat, subframe and mudguards
  • Headlight, tail light, indicators and speedometer

Road-registered trail bikes from this era have almost no dealer parts support left in Australia, so a running donor is one of the few reliable sources for a rebuild. Road-legal parts like the lighting and speedo are specific to registered bikes rather than off-road-only trail models, which makes this donor particularly useful if you’re keeping an XT250 licensed rather than converting it to a paddock bike.

Everything is a used take-off from this actual bike, checked over before it’s sent out – never new, never boxed as genuine. We freight Australia-wide from Derrimut. Browse the Yamaha parts category for more from this era, or get in touch via contact us about a specific part. Ask about a specific item even if it’s not listed yet – we’re still working through this bike and adding parts as we go. Restorers keeping a road-registered Yamaha trail bike licensed and running are the main buyers we see for parts like these. Give us a call and we’ll check what’s on hand.
