Category: Brand:

This 1980 Honda XL500S is being dismantled at Derrimut. It’s an air-cooled four-stroke trail single, road-registered with lights and a speedo, and one of the first Honda trail bikes to run Pro-Link monoshock rear suspension in place of the twin shocks fitted to earlier XL models.

Parts off this XL500S

  • Engine cases, cylinder head, barrel and piston
  • Carburettor, airbox and exhaust system
  • Kickstart mechanism, gearbox internals and clutch
  • Forks, triple clamps and both wheels
  • Pro-Link swingarm, linkage and rear shock
  • Front and rear brake assemblies
  • Fuel tank, seat, subframe and mudguards
  • Headlight, tail light, indicators and speedometer

Because the XL500S was among the first bikes to carry Honda’s Pro-Link suspension, genuine linkage and shock parts for this model are specific to a narrow window of early Pro-Link-equipped Hondas rather than shared broadly across the range. That makes this donor particularly useful for anyone restoring an early Pro-Link XL to original spec.

Everything is a used take-off from this actual bike, checked over before it’s sent out – never new, never boxed as genuine. We freight Australia-wide from Derrimut.
